(۱) اور رات کی قسم جب چھائے (ف۲)
By oath of the night when it covers
(۲) اور دن کی جب چمکے (ف۳)
And by oath of the day when it shines
(۳) اور اس (ف٤) کی جس نے نر و مادہ بنائے (ف۵)
And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female.
(٤) بیشک تمہاری کوشش مختلف ہے (ف٦)
Indeed your efforts differ.
(۵) تو وہ جس نے دیا (ف۷) اور پرہیزگاری کی (ف۸)
So for one who gave and practised piety
(٦) اور سب سے اچھی کو سچ مانا (ف۹)
And believed the best matter to be true
(۷) تو بہت جلد ہم اسے آسانی مہیا کردیں گے (ف۱۰)
So We will very soon provide him ease.
(۸) اور وہ جس نے بخل کیا (ف۱۱) اور بےپرواہ بنا (ف۱۲)
And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree,
(۹) اور سب سے اچھی کو جھٹلایا (ف۱۳)
And denied the best matter,
(۱۰) تو بہت جلد ہم اسے دشواری مہیا کردیں گے (ف۱٤)
So We will very soon provide him hardship.
(۱۱) اور اس کا مال اسے کام نہ آئے گا جب ہلاکت میں پڑے گا (ف۱۵)
His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin.
(۱۲) بیشک ہدایت فرمانا (ف۱٦) ہمارے ذمہ ہے،
Indeed guiding is upon Us.
(۱۳) اور بیشک آخرت اور دنیا دونوں کے ہمیں مالک ہیں،
And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us.
(۱٤) تو میں تمہیں ڈراتا ہوں اس آگ سے جو بھڑک رہی ہے،
I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze.
(۱۵) نہ جائے گا اس میں (ف۱۷) مگر بڑا بدبخت،
None except the most wicked will enter it.
(۱٦) جس نے جھٹلایا (ف۱۸) اور منہ پھیرا (ف۱۹)
The one who denied and turned away.
(۱۷) اور بہت اس سے دور رکھا جائے گا جو سب سے زیادہ پرہیزگار ،
He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq)
(۱۸) جو اپنا مال دیتا ہے کہ ستھرا ہو (ف۲۰)
Who gives his wealth in order to be pure.
(۱۹) اور کسی کا اس پر کچھ احسان نہیں جس کا بدلہ دیا جائے (ف۲۱)
And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated.
(۲۰) صرف اپنے رب کی رضا چاہتا ہے جو سب سے بلند ہے،
He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme.
(۲۱) اور بیشک قریب ہے کہ وہ راضی ہوگا (ف۲۲)
And indeed, soon he will be very pleased.
