یہ تحریر برصغیر کی تحریکِ آزادی میں علماء اور صوفیاء کے اس خاموش مگر نہایت مؤثر کردار کا احاطہ کرتی ہے جس نے اسلامی ریاستوں کی سیاسی اور مذہبی رہنمائی کا بیڑا اٹھایا۔ اس میں واضح کیا گیا ہے کہ مخلص علماء نے ہمیشہ ملوکیت اور سیاسی جبر کے سامنے کلمہ حق بلند کیا اور کسی بھی قسم کی دنیاوی شہرت یا مفاد کو خاطر میں لائے بغیر قوم کی کشتی کو بھنور سے نکالا۔ اکبر کے 'دینِ الہی' کے خلاف حضرت مجدد الف ثانی کی جدوجہد ہو یا 1857ء کی جنگِ آزادی میں مولانا فضلِ حق خیر آبادی کی قربانیاں، ہر دور میں مذہبی پیشواؤں نے ہی حق کی شمع روشن کی۔
